Squeezebox Cowl

In Aran weight yarn, Cowls, Patterns, Worsted weight yarn by Shannon

Who wouldn’t want a squeezebox cowl? This cowl, in two lengths, is full of so much harmony: lots of squishy reverse stockinette stitch with slipped stitches, made in two complementary colors. The name is a nod to the accordion-like fabric you end up with.

Materials

  • Finished Measurements: Both cowls, after blocking: approximately 9.5″ tall. Single loop (double loop): 20″ (50″) circumference.
  • Yarn: approximately 180 (360) yds/164.5 (329) m heavy worsted-, aran, or bulky-weight yarn, split between two colors as follows: cA: 120 (240) yds/ 110 (220) m, cB: 60 (120) yds/55 (110) m. I used Knitted Wit Bulky, Phoenix Tears (cA) and Carbon (cB).
  • Needles: US9/5.5mm needle for circular knitting, or size needed to get gauge.
  • Notions: stitch markers, tapestry needle.
  • Gauge: 16 sts = 4″/10 cm in stockinette stitch, measured after blocking.
