The Plan

As Hannibal from the A-Team would say, “I love it when a plan comes together!” And that’s exactly what happened with this hat: I had an idea, I knit that idea, and the hat turned out to be exactly what I wanted it to be.

Materials

  • Finished Measurements: Small (Medium, Large): 18 (20, 22)” circumference; 10.5 (11, 11.5)” from cuff to top.
  • Yarn: approximately 160 (175, 190) yards total worsted-weight yarn. I used the Fibre Co. Cumbria in Buttermere.
  • Needles: US7/4.5mm (or size to obtain gauge) and one size smaller (for ribbing). Use your preferred small-circumference-knitting needles.
  • Notions: stitch markers, tapestry needle.
  • Gauge: 20 sts & 26 rs = 4″/10 cm in stockinette stitch, measured after blocking.
