Every year on Ravelry, this amazing and seemingly-never-in-need-of-rest group of designers organizes the massive Indie Design Gift-a-long (GAL), and it started officially last night at 8pm. If you haven’t yet taken part in it, it’s a great opportunity to get some holiday crafting done, while being as involved as you want to be in a very vibrant (and talkative) community, with the added bonuses of discounts and potential prize-winning thrown in for good measure.
From now through November 30th, roughly a quadrillion patterns will be on sale for 25% off on Ravelry (give or take 10). I’m taking part with 20 of my own patterns that I thought would make good gift-knitting. Check out my pattern bundle here. Remember that the sale portion of the GAL is only in effect through November 30th, giving you just over a week to purchase any and all patterns you find that you need. For all participating designers, the coupon code is giftalong2016. You can use it as many times as you’d like, on as many patterns as you’d like.
From the beginning of the GAL through December 31st at midnight ET, you just knit or crochet and share your progress. Chat it up in the Ravelry group, and be sure to tag the designers you are using. It’s a ton of fun, and you just might fill up your gift-knitting bin AND find yourself actually ready for the holidays (no guarantees, of course). Check out the group on Ravelry for aaaallll of the information (there’s a ton), and then start perusing the patterns you’ll need so you can cast on your first one (or one hundred) today! (A note: you don’t have to knit the patterns that are offered at a discount from each designer in order to take part – you can knit any pattern from any participating designer, and that will count).
