Hazelwood KAL!

In Blog, Knittish by Shannon1 Comment

Back before everything changed so very drastically (like, the week before, actually), Lorajean and I were sitting on the couch in her studio, plotting out the spring and summer. We had been cooking up a KAL for my newly-expanded and re-knitted Hazelwood sweater, pairing it with her amazeballs new Sport yarn, and we spent a good long while putting oodles of color combos together and it was oh, so dreamy.

Then, the next week, the world basically shut down. Schools were cancelled (for 2 weeks, it first seemed), the governor was thinking about handing down a stay-at-home order, and we decided to put the KAL on hold until “things went back to normal.” Ha! We are knee-deep in our new normal now, and it’s one that seems like it will be hanging on for a lot longer than everyone initially expected, and so we are going to move forward with our sweater KAL, because it’s bright and fun and pretty and useful, and we want new sweaters!

LJ put 7 different color combos up on her website; to order yarn, just find the size you need (check the pattern page on Ravelry for measurements, and, while you’re there, snag the pattern) and choose the color combo you want. Mine will be in the Crow-Haute Pink-Pollen combo, and it’s going to be so bright and happy and just super duper. The sample I’m wearing in the photos below is a size 3, and I’m wearing it with just a wee bit of positive ease.

The pattern has nine sizes (newly-expanded at the beginning of this year), and uses 3 colors. I’m winding my yarn this week, so I can maybe do a wee swatch with my colors striped the right way… The KAL itself begins (June 1st we’re pushing the cast-on day to June 8th!!)! It’ll take place in our Ravelry group, and if you’re sharing on Instagram, use hashtag #hazelwoodkal and #hazelwoodsweater)

Maria from A Needle Runs Through It has created a set of stitch markers for increasing, too, and she’ll have buttons for sale (perfect, amazeballs buttons) once the KAL is going, so snag them to make your work prettier and easier! (Seriously, everything she makes is perfection; I ordered one of her masks for each member of my family, and they are so beautifully made and very comfortable. Plus, they’re super cute, to boot!).
