Knit it: Cascade Range expanded

In Blog, Knittish by Shannon1 Comment

Stefan and I had a lot of fun in our massive photoshoot this week. I had the opportunity to showcase some of my new dresses (as well as justifying their purchase – they’re for my business, people!) and he had the opportunity to play with his new camera. It was seriously the most fun.

Cascade Range

This pattern, the Cascade Range Shawl, has always been one of my favorites. I love the asymmetric shape. I love the interplay of colors. I love a sharp chevron. Seriously, what’s not to like?

Having two different weight options really opens this pattern up quite a bit – you can do the quick-and-dirty Aran/Bulky weight version (shown here in the Plucky Knitter Traveler Aran, a dream to knit with and wear), or you can commit to the Fingering weight version (shown here in Knitted Wit Single Fingering, one of my absolute faves).

Full disclosure: both of these samples came about because of some of the amazing sample knitters I have been working with lately.

You may remember my blog post requesting groupthink help regarding this project, where I asked you: should I frog or go forward? Well, Melissa bailed me out by offering to finish it for me, and she did a heckofa job. I’m loving this fingering-weight version, just as I thought I would.

Tara offered to knit the aran version, and I can’t stop throwing it on. It’s so darned squishy and soft. I love how the different versions are complementary without being total twinnies. I love how each has its own personality, and even though I found others to knit these for me, I keep finding myself putting colors together for my own.

So what are you waiting for? Go stash-diving, go shopping, play with color, have fun! The Cascade Range Shawl now has so many more options to inspire your knitterly self!
