Waaay back when, before I was born, my folks had a hippie-dippie shop in the town I grew up in called Radiation. They sold bell-bottoms, waterbeds, and other counter-culture goods. The basement of the house I grew up in was the perfect suburban basement, with old couches, a TV, a pool table, and, taking up one whole wall, the wooden, hand-painted sign from that very shop.
The Radiation Scarf reminds me of the Radiation sign – 70s letters, curving around a sun, with thick beams radiating from the center. It makes me think of home, and youth, and good times in that basement underneath that sign.
I hope you’ll get some of those good vibes while making and wearing this oversized scarf.
Instructions are provided for either sport-weight yarn (version shown) or worsted-weight yarn. Both versions are the same finished size.
The Radiation Scarf would be lovely with any combination of solid and variegated yarn.
