The final pattern set for the Big Ass Skein Society has been released, and I am so excited to share with you guys!
I’m super happy with the way the Strange Jewels Hat and the Strange Jewels Slippers turned out. Texture and fat yarn make this knitter very happy, and there’s nothing like slipped stitches and Blue Moon Fiber Arts‘ big variegation to make my design-y heart go pitter-patter. These patterns are just as inspired by what I was reading as I worked on them as the weather outside and the yarn itself.
From the pattern pages:
The final pattern set for the Big Ass Skein Society was inspired by so many things: the fabulously fat and squishy Sookie yarn in the bright and happy Hanging with my Gnomies colorway; the cooling of the days and nights, and my resulting desire for toasty warm snuggly knitted things; and finally, my very recent reading of Elizabeth Gilbert’s Big Magic. “One of the oldest and most generous tricks that the universe plays on human beings is to bury strange jewels within us all, and then stand back to see if we can ever find them.” Now, these patterns might not bring out those strange jewels hidden within yourself, but the comfort you receive from the making, gifting, and wearing of them might just inspire some of that within yourself.
