Knot Another Fiber Festival recap and gushing

First of all, thanks so much to everyone who commented on my post yesterday. I feel like it really hit a nerve, and if you want more of that, check out what I had to say about my uniform dresses and my burgeoning tattoo addiction, because it summarizes my journey to a better form of self-acceptance, body-wise. It’s still a struggle, as I’m sure we are all struggling to accept ourselves, but it’s a good first step. We just have to keep on keeping on, and try to look at ourselves in a less critical and more loving light. I’m game if you are, friends!

This past weekend was the Knot Another Fiber Festival in Silverton, Oregon. It’s a hop, skip, and a jump from home, but it felt like worlds away from regular life. I went as Knitted Wit’s booth babe, and it was just about the most fun you can have while working. We had so much stunning yarn, and were showcasing our collaborations, and were reminded, yet again, just how well we work together. Plus, when the two of us hang out, we practically have to ice down our cheeks afterward from all the laughing. When you spend a weekend working, but feel almost like you’ve been on vacation, you know you’re in the right biz.

The Oregon Gardens were amazing, the weather was pretty rad, and the company truly could not be beat. Not only did I get lots of fun one-on-one time with my best girl LJ, we shared a hotel room with Jenn from JaMpdx and Marie Greene, two fabulous fiber friends, and had deep talks, long laughs, and winey (not to be confused with whiny) days (and nights).

We also saw so.many.customer.friends. Thanks to everyone who came out, thanks for the hugs and the laughs, thanks for the conversations and the new KALs many of you are doing with your own fiber besties. I only wish I had had the time/energy to take all of the classes, because everyone I talked to who took one or more was floating from the knitting knowledge infusion they had just had.

Seriously, this show is some special kind of magic. If you live close and didn’t go, make sure you remedy that for the next one. Sarah from Knot Another Hat does a stellar job with the organizing, and gets some really amazeballs vendors and instructors to attend. Her next show is in the Dalles in October, so mark your calendar and start saving your dollars.
