When I was in Albany for the Black Sheep Gathering the last weekend of June, I taught all day on Friday, then hung out with my bestie Maria from A Needle Runs Through It for much of Saturday. I helped in the booth, visited with friends old and new, and started a new wee weaving project on the Mini Looms we developed with Lorajean years ago (they remain a popular item for folks both retail and wholesale, and you can get them on my website, on Maria’s website and at a growing number of yarn and craft shops all over the place!)
So, I decided to start a wee weaving project, and as I wove my first piece, Maria and I were talking about the possibilities, and she told me someone had made a little box with woven pieces (at least I think that’s what happened; my memory may be failing me). OMG of course I had to do one myself, so I started weaving wee squares. I got a few done there, and then finished the rest when I got home, and voila! The cutest little woven box was born!
I’m planning on making a tutorial video at some point on this sweet little craft, and by saying that here, hopefully I will make it so! And, I plan on making more small squares and sewing them into patchworks too. My love of this wee loom has officially been rekindled; in fact, I brought it to a Shakespeare in the Park my family went to last week (it was so cool – Original Practice Shakespeare at Laurelhurst Park, Henry IV, Part 1), and made a few squares for my next box. I forgot how absolutely perfect and perfectly transportable it is!
