At least a few times a year, I get hit with a wicked case of castonitis. Usually, it knocks me down at fairly inopportune times, but there’s not much I can do except go along for the ride. I appears this past week was one of those times.
I have a design on the needles, the fifth League of Busy B’s pattern, and my to-do list has said “work on 5th League pattern;” “get 5th League pattern done;” “finish 5th League pattern” for the last few weeks. And the 5th League pattern is pretty awesome so far: the shape is different than other patterns I’ve made, the yarn is absolutely divine, and the knitting is super fun. BUT, I am at a point where I have more figuring and futzing to do, and my stash yarn started whispering to me. And then it started speaking a bit louder. And then, all of a sudden, it started YELLING.
What’s a girl to do when your stash is screaming in your ears? I gave in. I started a sweater. I started a shawl. I finished a shawl. I started another shawl. I started a sock. I wound yarn for two more shawls.
One of the shawls I started is my third Uni-horn Magic shawl, which is also the beginnings of the KAL I’m starting today. This one is going to fly off of my needles and around my neck, people. I just know it.
I had just enough of my favorite Knitted Wit color, Storyteller, in Victory Sock for the mesh parts of a Uni-horn Magic. I dug through my deep stash to find a good complementary color, and in my bin o’ Plucky, there was a single skein of the most perfect dirty green-y brown color, Good Ole Days in Primo Fingering. These colors were meant for each other, and the knitting is just the most delicious thing. But don’t take my word for it – see for yourself.
So.. want to join my KAL? I’ve started a Ravelry thread, and, on Instagram, we can use the hashtag #unihornmagickal. Share your colors on Rav and IG, and inspire me to fill all of my size 4 needles with Uni-horn Magic! And, use code unicorndaydream to get $1 off of the pattern through the end of today!
