Slay Me KAL

20 years.

“In every generation there is a chosen one. She alone will stand against the vampires the demons and the forces of darkness. She is the slayer.”
-Joss Whedon

Buffy the Vampire Slayer turns 20 this year, and Tina from Blue Moon Fiber Arts and I decided to celebrate by doing what we do best: she designed a bunch of Buffy-themed colorways, I designed a Buffy-inspired shawl.

We are particularly tickled about the colorplay that inspired the design that inspired the colorplay: the same, Buffy-inspired colorway, two ways: one in Super Sparkle, one in Yaksi Fingering. The yarns take the dye in two very different, and delightful, ways. Add in a Shaded Solid in the fluffy Cloud Nine, and you’ve got a fierce match. Tina’s got the Buffy colorways all listed and shown in this blog post.

This asymmetric shawl starts and ends the same way: with one single stitch. Along the way, you’ll play with striping, work some simple yet effective mesh lace, and create a lovely and stretchy edging.

The KAL begins May 1st, and the pattern will be released sometime before then. Order your yarn now, so we can all knit together this Spring as we re-watch Buffy (and Angel, don’t forget about Angel!). Order by April 21st, and you get a 15% discount on all three skeins of the yarn. Discount information is included in the pdf you get when you purchase the pattern, as well as lots more information about the KAL.

Tina and I are hanging out today, matching Shaded Solids to Buffy colors, so keep your eyes peeled for some ideas. I’ll share photos and links here when I have them.

And remember, don’t leave home without your own Mister Pointy. You never know when you’ll come face-to-face with a vampire or a demon.
