Snowy Hat Collection – an exciting collaboration

Lorajean from Knitted Wit is pretty special. In a good way. She makes these amazing products that my hands just itch to use, and then she gets a bunch of local folks together and creates this truly fabulous collaboration, just in time to get so much holiday knitting done.

The Snowy Hat Collection is a true Portland collaboration. Lorajean, aka Knitted Wit, created 6 new snowy-inspired yarn colors, 6 Portland designers (myself included – yay!) created unique and wearable hat patterns inspired by these new colors, local ceramics company JaMpdx created mugs to coordinate with the collection, and Happy Rock Coffee put together a tea-tasting. Kits will be available for a limited time through Knitted Wit starting today, so if you want the whole kit-and-kaboodle, err…yarn, mug, patterns and tea, you better hop to it.

10% of proceeds from the sale of kits, eBooks, and individual patterns through 12/31/15 will go to Raphael House of Portland, a domestic violence agency and emergency shelter. Yay for giving back while stash enhancing!

I am so tickled to have been able to work with some of my favorite women in the world on this. Lorajean, of course, and JJ, that Traveling Ewe that she is, and my inspiring fellow designers: Star Athena, Michele Bernstein, Debbi Stone, Lee Meredith, and my own sweet Katherine Leek, aka Katricia.

My contribution is the Snowy Peaks Hat, a textured hat with a big huge pompom, because, well, simply because pompoms are amazing, and I have become quite enamored with the idea that most hats will benefit from their addition.
