Due to this unprecedented global pandemic, we are all practicing some hard-core social distancing. This has resulted in changes large and small, including LJ and I not being able to photograph patterns together. The Socially Distant shawl is an ode to the days we’ll be able to be physically together once again…

Materials

  • Finished Measurements: Wingspan: 72”/183 cm; length: 60”/152 cm; width at bind-off edge: 44”/112 cm, measured after blocking.
  • Yarn: approximately 450 yards/412 m EACH of fingering-weight and lace-weight held together. I used Knitted Wit Single Fingering and Fairy Floss in Among the Flowers (pink version), and Knitted Wit Single Fingering and Fairy Floss in Under the Sea held together (blue version).
  • Needles: US6/4mm (or size to obtain gauge) circular needle, 24”/60 cm or longer
  • Notions: stitch markers, tapestry needle.
  • Gauge: 18 sts & 40 Rs= 4”/10 cm in garter stitch worked flat, measured after blocking.
