Virtual Toe Up Sock Class

In Blog, classes, Knittish by Shannon5 Comments

Are you ready to learn the art of toe up sock knitting (or want to understand it all a bit better)? Well, I’ve got a free 3-session YouTube Live class that you can still access! The class itself broadcast live on March 26-28, but the videos are still on YouTube, so grab some yarn and needles and get ready to tackle toe up sock knitting!

Download the handout here.

Get Winter Weekend Socks on Ravelry

Print out (or have easy electronic access to) pages 2-4 only. We’ll be following the instructions for the smallest size for this class, to make a wee sock to try out techniques, so you can highlight or circle that size before class.

Other materials you’ll need

•US 3 or 4 32″ circular needle

•At least 25 grams of DK- or worsted-weight yarn

•Stitch markers

A note on the needles

I highly recommend a circular needle with a 32″ or 40″ cord and tips that lean more toward sharp-ish. (Needles that have a more rounded tip might be difficult, but not impossible, to use).

Skill Level

Advanced beginner. You should be comfortable:

  • knitting in the round
  • working a short row

Class times

Class lives on YouTube Live, so you can view it at your convenience.

CLASS #1: toes

CLASS #2: heels

CLASS #3: finishing/questions

Check out A Needle Runs Through It for stitch markers, sock rulers, and so many other amazeballs things.

Check out Squire Country Crafts (my dad’s biz) for sock blockers, buttons, and other crafty accessories.

My favorite sock yarn is Knitted Wit! Their DK is perfect for Winter Weekend Socks, and their Sock is perfect for Sundae Socks.

If you would like to support me, there are oodles of ways to do it!

  1. Hi Shannon- this is so wonderful of you to offer! I’m still working (health care) so can’t attend live. Will it be available after the live time?
    Thank you!
