Head to the stationery shop, snag a composition book and a six-pack of highlighters, and get ready to go back to school with this two-pattern collection, designed to get you out of summer mode and ready for some serious scholastic endeavors.

One full skein of fingering weight (your composition book) and six mini skeins (your highlighters) are all you need for a cowl (smaller size) and mitts set that will keep you warm all school year.

Materials

  • Finished Measurements: 23”/58.5 cm circumference, 12.5 (16.5)“/32 (42) cm tall.
  • Yarn: approximately 400 (530) yds/366 (485) m total fingering-weight yarn. I used Knitted Wit Victory Sock in Rock Candy Black mc, 250 (332) yds/229 (304) m & a Smarties Sixlet in Highlighter Rainbow ccA-F, 25 (33) yds/23 (30) m each.
  • Needles: US4/3.5mm (or size to obtain gauge) for small-circumference knitting.
  • Notions: stitch markers, tapestry needle.
  • Gauge: 24 stitches and 38 rows = 4 inches in stockinette in the round.
