True Blue

There is not much I love more than 80s music ear worms, so when one of my test knitters suggested I name this shawl True Blue, two things happened: I squeed with delight, and started humming and singing True Blue by Madonna on repeat, much to my family’s dismay.

“True love, you’re the one I’m dreaming of, your heart fits me like a glove, And I’m gonna be, true blue, baby I love you…”

Materials

  • Finished Measurements: Asymmetric triangle: 68”/173 cm x 45”/114 cm x 65”/165 cm, measured after blocking.
  • Yarn: approximately 460 yards/421 m DK-weight yarn. I used Alpha B Sexy B DK in Sink Back into the Ocean (cA, 225 yds/206 m) and Cabana (cB, 235 yds/215 m).
  • Needles: US 7/4.5mm (or size to obtain gauge) for flat knitting.
  • Notions: stitch markers, tapestry needle.
  • Gauge: 14 sts & 35 Rs = 4”/10 cm in garter stitch, measured after blocking. 14.5 sts & 22 Rs = 4”/10 cm in Lattice Stitch, measured after blocking.
