Knit It: Rainshowers Cowl

The Rainshowers Cowl is the second pattern in the Big Ass Skein Society, a super-fun collaboration between me and Tina from Blue Moon Fiber Arts.

This cowl is made in the amazingly fabulous Silky Victoria, or, as I like to call her, Silky Vickie. She’s a gem, and looks wonderful in every colorway I’ve experienced. In fact, I’m having a bit of a problem, because I want to make another Rainshowers Cowl, and can’t decide which color to use.

Rainshowers is created by provisionally casting on enough stitches either for a double loop cowl or a really really tall single loop cowl (which doubles as a snood). You then work the pattern until you are happy with your length, Kitchener the ends together, and bang-o, presto, you are done.

The originals are in Enchanted Forest and Help Me, Rhonda, and I’ll tell you what, I’m having the hardest time sending the Help Me, Rhonda version back to my test knitter. It’s so bright and fun and squishy and wonderful. It helps that we’ve had very warm days, and wool is not on the clothing agenda. Today. I send it back today.

If you’d like the pattern, you have two options: purchase the Rainshowers Cowl pattern by itself for $5, or get the whole Big Ass Skein Society collection for $18. There are now 2 patterns in the collection, but there will be 6 by the end of the year, and each will focus on a different fabulous base yarn from Blue Moon Fiber Arts. You also get a discount code for 2 project’s worth of the featured yarn when you are a Big Ass Skein Society member. There’s a fun group on my Ravelry group, knitting along and talking color choices, so make sure you check that out, too.
